Manifesto
Who we are, what we do, and why.
Who we are
CryptEU is a non-profit, unincorporated organisation of people active in cybersecurity across Europe. We are not a company, we sell nothing, and we have no investors. We act out of conviction: a free society needs a private, secure and open digital space.
Our mission
1. Defend digital rights. We stand for the IT rights and digital freedom of European citizens against mass surveillance, abusive data collection and online threats. We inform, document, and speak up when those rights are attacked.
2. Protect people with real tools. We develop and publish cybersecurity tools that are free of charge and fully open-source. Anyone can use them, read the code, audit them, fork them and improve them.
What we believe
- Privacy is a precondition of freedom. Surveillance without strict necessity, oversight and proportionality is not security.
- Security must be verifiable. If the code cannot be audited, it cannot be trusted. Open source is the baseline.
- Protection is for everyone. Good security must not depend on a budget. Our tools are free, always.
- Digital sovereignty. Europeans should control their own infrastructure, keys and data.
- Collect nothing you do not need. This site stores the minimum required to run accounts, and nothing is sold or tracked.
